A collaboration between several local businesses will fill the autumn air with the sights, smells and sounds of German tradition, from 12-8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15.

Oktoberfest, hosted by members of the Black Mountain Hospitality Group, will feature seven styles of German beer, pop-up tents with local vendors, live music, a costume contest and more.

The event will be held at Foothills Grange, the Black Mountain Kitchen + Ale House and Black Mountain Brewing. Each location will offer specials, ranging from Bavarian pretzels and sausage, sauerkraut, beer onions and mustard at Black Mountain Kitchen to bratwurst at Foothills Grange. All three places will offer a variety of German beers.

Prizes for the costume contest and games, including hammerschlagen, stein hoisting and axe throwing, are provided by Sarah Sunshine Pottery, while the Oompah Band will perform at the Black Mountain Kitchen + Ale House from 3 - 5:30 p.m.

The event represents a collaboration of the “Best Little Beer Town” partners, a group of more than 15 businesses behind the campaign that showcases Black Mountain as a “haven for craft beer fans.” Launched in September, bestlittlebeertown.com highlights the town’s charm and outdoor adventure along with its “laid-back, friendly vibe, walkable downtown and vibrant local food and craft beer scene.”
