When Brooklyn singer-songwriter Lizzie No took the stage inside Veterans Park, June 23, the bright sun in the cloudless blue sky left the crowd looking for shade.

But, as the sun dipped below the tree line during the second show in the 2022 Park Rhythms summer concert series, the contemporary folk artist kept it cool with her harp, guitar and storytelling.

No is one of eight artists performing in the free concert series, hosted by the Black Mountain Recreation and Parks Department, for the first time this year. Her show featured songs from her 2017 debut album, “Hard Won,” and 2019 release, “Vanity.”

No, a winner of the American Songwriter Magazine Lyrics Contest, has performed in the Americanafest, South by Southwest and the Mile of Music Festival.

The event featured food from Dirty Gertie’s Taco Stand, and screen-printed t-shirts from Grift Town Goods.

Park Rhythms will continue at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 30, with a performance by Floating Action, a band founded by Black Mountain multi-instrumentalist and producer Seth Kauffman. Food will be available through Cecilia’s Kitchen food truck.
