The men and women who have served their country in the armed forces will line State Street beginning at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 11, as the Black Mountain Salutes Veterans Day Parade returns for its third year.

The procession will start in front of Black Mountain Primary School, and end at the Black Mountain Library, recognizing a wide range of participating military veterans.

Since its debut in 2018, the Veterans Day Parade has brought hundreds of onlookers to downtown. Black Mountain Salutes, a community organization dedicated to recognizing and honoring area veterans, was forced to cancel the parade in 2020, due to COVID-19.

Plans for the 2021 Veterans Day Parade include a flyover by military aircraft and a National Guard equipment viewing area in the Parking lot below Town Square.
